ABSTRACT

25 cases with chronic painful subtalar joint were treated by distraction compression triple arthrodesis. They were 20 males and 5 females, there ages ranged from 13 - 46 years with an average 23.6 years The most common causes of pain were spasmodic valgus foot and subtalar arthritis after fracture os calcis The pre-and postoperative level of pain was assessed to all patients according to pain scale of Mann and Baumgarten All patients were evaluated objectively and subjectively after follow up The duration of follow up was ranged from 6 months to 3 years with an average 14 months. The aim of this work is to assess the rate of union and absence of subtalar pain our results revieled that: The average preoperative Pain scale was 2.04 and reduced postoperatively to 0.32. 17 patients [68%] were excellent and 8 patients [32%] were good, no fair or poor results. 17 patients [68%] were completely satisfied, and 8 patients [32%] were satisfied with minor reservation, no patients were unsatisfied. All cases were united within 3 months without pain and all patients were satisfied with very minimal complications
